Cross-link density can be defined as the number of effective cross-links per unit volume of the thermoset material, in inverse relation to the molecular weight between cross-links (Mc).

The degree of crosslinking that occurs is determined by the percentage of polymer chains that are interconnected in this network, or in other words, the density of the gel component.
