Arkaroola is still owned by the Spriggs, and is now managed by Reg’s son, Doug, who is 67 years young and shares his father’s passion for Arkaroola. Other visitors have also been captivated by the uniqueness of this place, including Padraic ‘PJ’ Koen, a self-proclaimed ‘astro-nut’ and astro photographer.
Is Arkaroola dog friendly?
The only place to camp or stay in Arkaroola is the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, part of Arkaroola Station. All attractions we recommend are on the Arkaroola Station and are dog friendly except for any paid tours.
Can you buy fuel in Arkaroola?
There is a petrol station and a shop with some supplies.
Is Arkaroola worth visiting?
Absolutely stunning place in the Australian Outback. It’s located just at the northeastern tip of the Flinders Ranges and the landscape and views during the day are amazing. However, they are nothing compared to the night sky in Arkaroola. You should stay at a minimum one night and do the tour to the observatory.
Do I need a 4WD for Arkaroola?
Feel free to choose how much time you want to spend exploring the stunning landscape of Arkaroola. Go at your own pace and and plan your own road trip. Much of Arkaroola is accessible by 4WD/high clearance vehicles.

DRIVING CONDITIONS The bitumen ends at Blinman or Leigh Creek to the south and the last 120km to Arkaroola can be travelled via a 2WD gravel road in good condition. The public roads within Arkaroola and Gammon Ranges are generally well maintained.
Are dogs allowed at Coles Bay?

Can dogs go to Cradle Mountain?
Dogs or pets are not permitted in national parks, not even in vehicles with the Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park being no exception. The Visitors Centre car park is located immediately outside the national park so with the weather being very cool we opted to leave Chika and she slept until we returned.
