What are Suffolk sheep known for?
Suffolk, breed of medium-wool, dark-faced, hornless sheep developed in England during the years 1800 to 1850 by mating Norfolk horned ewes with Southdown rams. Suffolks are prolific, early maturing sheep with excellent mutton carcasses. They are energetic, and the whole carriage is alert, showing stamina and quality.

Can Suffolk sheep be milked?
A field of grazing Suffolk sheep is a beautiful sight, with their large, stocky size and black and white color pattern. With proper care, milk and wool can be usable products obtained from the Suffolk breed, too.
Why are sheep coloured?
Herdwick fabric patches: Since Herdwick sheep roam hills freely it would have been impossible to stop a tup from finding them. To stop this, coloured fabric or hessian patches were sewn onto the wool of the ewes’ backside as a method of contraception.
Why are sheep different Colours?
